Our Farmers & Our Farms

Our community consists of farmers from over 25 countries across the globe, with the largest cultural groups represented by individuals from Cambodia, Mexico, and South Africa. Many of us are recent immigrants or first-generation residents with deep roots in farming traditions. We are seeking access to land to grow food for our families and communities. In addition, several members are interested in scaling up to generate income by selling produce and other goods locally

We believe that by lowering grocery costs for ourselves here in the USA, we can better support our family members in our countries of origin, creating a positive global impact. Many of us are refugees or come from regions currently affected by war, drought, natural disasters, and extreme poverty. Our waiting list continues to grow as more people in the Rochester area seek sustainable and affordable ways to grow their own food.

We charge a $20 fee per season for the use of a garden plot, keeping costs low to accommodate many who come from low-income households or support multiple family members both locally and abroad. Those who are able to contribute more to help cover our operating expenses are encouraged to make a donation that works for their family.

We rent our land, mostly in urban settings. We are very grateful to the communities and individuals

that support our work and allow us to access land to grow food for our communities.
